Contributing to local society
As you may know, The economy of the Philippines is the world’s 34th largest economy by nominal GDP according to the 2017 estimate of the International Monetary Fund’s statistics, it is the 13th largest economy in Asia, and the 3rd largest economy in the ASEAN after Indonesia and Thailand. The Philippines is one of the emerging markets and is the sixth richest in Southeast Asia by GDP per capita values, after the regional countries of Singapore, Brunei, Malaysia, Thailand and Indonesia.
But in fact there are still a lot of poor people living in this country. and average un-educated people’s annual income is below 1000 us dollars. even if the Philippine’s government offers free education, they still need to buy a uniform and school supplies which is not possible for them. MSU is trying to contribute to the society. in 2018 MSU completed free Divemaster course for 2 local Philippine personnel, and also we contributed full diving equipment to 1 local Philippine person, we also gave zero to pro education (from Open water diver course to Divemaster) for free to 1 local person. we never set up unfair contract to them after they become divemaster. they are free to work for another dive center. only what we hope is,we want them to become a teacher and a role-model of the diving related activities against all local person who wants to work for a diving service here in Cebu.
We also think that keeping our ocean clean is very important for all of us. we are actively doing “Bring at least 1 plastic from every dive” actions in every diving. we welcome you to join our ocean clean activities when you come scuba with us.
important notice of dive against debris
Mainly get plastics
As you may know plastics never last within a couple thousands of years, therefore we recommend you to collect plastics more than other debris.
Do not touch sharp objects
Please do not touch sharp objects such as a empty food can, broken glass, etc. , it will easily hurts you and your diving equipment.
Before you collect that debris
Before you collect a debris, please check if there are no sea creatures living in there.
Be careful of weights of the debris and remaining air
Also it is important to check your air gauge time to time. and also please do not try to collect too many debris which produces heavy weight. please always be with your diving professionals when you collect a debris in the ocean.
